As public safety issues become more and more important, the demand for traffic surveillance and security is increasing. According to the research, there are more than 100,000 intersection monitors in Taiwan. Z-COM works with intersection surveillance system integrators (SI) to deploy PtP/PtMP outdoor access points at the intersections in Hsinchu Science Park to provide real-time surveillance images to the Park management and police station.

Originally SI uses fiber and cable as backhaul. However, cables have chances to be malfunctioned after being exposed to sun and rain. In addition, the cost of re-deployment is not cost-effective, and the construction is inconvenient, which may even cause traffic jams.
The transmission rate of original access point is about 100Mbps, but the video transmission is not real-time enough. Z-COM uses IEEE 802.11ac Wave2 PtP/PtMP access point as bridge, and is deployed at road lamps and rooftops to reduce trees and building obstructions. By using PtP deployment, data transmission is up to 300Mbps, which is 2-3 times faster than the original access points.
Unlike traditional repeater mode, multi-segment point-to-point networking enables video transmission up to 200Mbps at a distance of one kilometer, providing high-bandwidth data streams to consolidate surveillance camera video data.
With more than 25 years experience in the wireless industry, Z-COM not only optimizes the transmission performance, but also effectively replaces the fiber optic cable to save the cost of network construction. According to the evaluation of the environment, we adopt the multi-segment point-to-point transmission method and choose the most suitable location to deploy access points. High resolution cameras must have sufficient bandwidth to maintain stable video transmission quality. By cooperating with the SI, the surveillance information can be sent back to the Park management and police station in real-time to maximize the effectiveness of the security and traffic surveillance system.
