Project overview

In recent years, with the continuous advancement and development of science and technology, automation and artificial intelligence have become important trends in various industries. In the field of transportation, leveraging AI technology through outdoor wireless hotspot SP230-S5, specifically designed for outdoor wireless transmission, and utilizing MU-MIMO technology, real-time transmission of high-definition surveillance device images can be achieved. This enables monitoring on the roads, thereby improving road safety and reducing the occurrence of traffic accidents.

Since 2021, Directorate General of Highways along with Institution of Transportation and Railway Bureau of MOTC, have jointly implemented the "Promotion of 5G to Enhance Efficiency and Safety in Smart Transportation Services" program”  to Improve the Efficiency and Safety of Smart Transportation Service and Safety Plan" using fast and reliable wireless networks to upgrade communication environments. High-resolution cameras are installed at important intersections and road sections, combined with AI image detection and recognition technology, as well as violation detection systems. This enables real-time detection of traffic flow and congestion, and initiates measures such as signal timing adjustments or alternative route guidance, effectively improving road management and traffic safety.

Achievement

AI image detection and recognition technology can automatically identify traffic events such as illegal lane changes and illegal parking through image recognition techniques. It can also identify vehicle models, colors, and license plate information, enabling fast and accurate monitoring. Adopting this technology is more accurate, efficient, and energy-saving compared to traditional manual surveillance methods.


Violation detection systems monitor the movement of vehicles within the road lanes and automatically identify violations such as crossing the central divider or solid lines. This enables timely detection and processing of violations and also improves drivers' awareness of road safety, providing road users with a safer and more efficient road experience.


In summary, the Directorate General of Highways, along with the Institute of Transportation, utilizes intelligent wireless network equipment to achieve high-speed transmission and low-latency wireless communication environments. By integrating AI image detection and recognition technology with violation detection systems, technology is combined with administrative management to improve the efficiency of traffic safety and management. This reduces the occurrence of road traffic accidents and provides people with a safer and more convenient experience, creating a more user-friendly environment that aligns with human-centered transportation.
